About
Welcome to Mien Tay, a cherished culinary gem nestled on Kingsland Road in London. This vibrant Vietnamese restaurant has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, thanks to its comforting dishes and warm atmosphere. The aroma of spices and fresh herbs wafts through the air as you step inside, inviting you to explore an array of authentic flavors that transport you straight to Vietnam.
Mien Tay has earned accolades for its signature dishes, with many returning for favorites like the Pho soup—a rich, aromatic bowl that nourishes the soul. Customer Malwa Sobczak described it perfectly, noting how this comforting meal lifted her spirits after a long day, thanks to its freshness and heartwarming flavors. For those seeking a delightful crunch, the Prawn Summer Rolls and Tofu Banh Xeo pancake are crowd-pleasers that burst with flavor.
However, it’s important to be aware of some changes since the restaurant has updated its menu. Longtime patrons like Mo Mo have noted the absence of certain beloved items, such as the classic aubergine in garlic, which now comes with tofu. Still, the consistency in quality is evident as customers rave about the Chicken Curry and Squid with lemongrass and chilli—dishes described as nothing short of exceptional.
The creative use of ingredients is one of Mien Tay's hallmarks. Ming Ming's experience highlights how the squid was so well-executed, it could be savored on its own, paired perfectly with a flavorful sauce that complements the entire dish. The vibrant decorations and cozy ambiance contribute to a dining experience that feels inviting and intimate. You’re likely to lose track of the fact that you’re in the heart of London!
Service here is noted to be friendly and attentive—factors that elevate your dining experience. Whether you're greeted with a refreshing orange like many diners have reported or engaging service that makes recommendations with enthusiasm, Mien Tay ensures you feel right at home.
While some prices may have crept up recently, as Sally mentioned in her review, the quality of the food justifies the cost. After all, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a flavorful meal, paired with good company and energetic service, in an atmosphere that continuously invites you to return. Mien Tay might just be the perfect spot for your next culinary adventure in London. Whether you're coming for the Pho or the cozy ambiance, you’re in for a delightful experience!
“ Staple to Kingsland road, reliable and swift service but not as it used to be. They've changed items on the menu so check if they still have what you used to order e.g. aubergine in garlic now comes with tofu but I asked for it plain. No more free prawn crackers at the start of the meal and prices understandably have gone up. ”
“ I came here by chance, feeling absolutely exhausted after a long day... I ordered the Pho soup and jasmine tea – and it was exactly what I needed! The soup was full of flavor, warm and comforting, with lots of fresh herbs and greens – it truly lifted me up I also had a juicy, fresh orange for a refreshing finish – just perfect. It's a very cozy place with a super friendly staff – I felt really welcomed and taken care of. I highly recommend this spot – the food, atmosphere, and service were all amazing. I’ll definitely be coming back! ”
“ My favorite Vietnamese in London. Been to Vietnam a few times and the food here is delicious. Chicken curry and veggies spring rolls are exceptional ”
“ Came here a few months ago, beautiful food! We were served an orange at first which was refreshing, and we ordered some egg fried rice on the side, and for the main meals, Sweet and sour chicken, Squid with lemongrass and chilli. The squid was incredible, the sauce it was served in was so good I could drink it by itself, same as the sweet and sour chicken. The vegetables in the sauce were so good and were delicious even by their own dipped in the sauce, ate all of them of course . We cleared our plates. For drinks we had a iced coffee and a cola. Little expensive but for this quality it was deserved. Amazing waiter, can't remember names but staff was very nice. Order costed 35. Tipped as we were amazed. Cant wait to come back. Atmosphere was great and I love the decorations. Feels like you aren't in England. Pictured is the squid NAM SAO ”
“ Fresh tasty food. We ordered Prawn Summer Rolls, Tofu Banh Xeo pancake, Chicken Papaya Salad, Classic Rare Beef & Flank Pho for 2 people. Our favourite was the Papaya Salad. They did get our order mixed up with the choice of protein but it didn't bother us. Prices are normal, not the cheapest on the street. They are open from 3pm-5pm unlike most of the restaurants on the street. Our server was chatty, helpful, energetic with a unique personality. ”
“ Classic! Great humble food. Can’t go wrong. Great for gluten free as well, everything we can have is clearly labelled. ”
“ Came here from a friends recommendation and we were absolutely delighted with the food. Decent sized portions, really tasty and fresh. BYOB but you have to pay 4 per person that is drinking. Will be back! ”
“ The seating isn’t too private so you’ll feel like you’re sitting with table next to you but it’s okay We mainly ordered vegan dishes and one beef dish - it’s highly recommended for vegetarian options The food is so so good and flavourful, the tofu curry is so good id go back just for it Lovely restaurant, highly recommended ”
